I’ll start with Opportunity, the Mars Exploration Rover on Mars. She’s been there for over 9 years and she took a picture of an unusual rock.
On and around the rock were blueberry type objects. She has taken a picture of these round objects before.
A Widow Dragonfly.
NASA launched two suborbital probes into the ionosphere recently. These probes will monitor electricity.
The Mars Exploration Rover, Opportunity, has been on Mars for close to ten years. Recently, she has found indications of water being present in the past on Mars.
Opportunity is driving to another location. It will take some time for her to get there to do more tests on layered rocks. The ground on Mars is tricky. There are rocks, uneven places and rough dirt to travel over. Opportunity will go carefully and slowly on her journey.

At 11:05, on June 7, 2013, The Cosmic Infrared Background observer was launched from Wallop Flight Facility in the state of Virginia.
The suborbital four stage rocket, Black Brandt XII, carried the artificial satellite to a height of 358 miles above Earth, over the Atlantic Ocean.
This will help understand energy in galaxies.
Sun, Earth and the Space Station.
NASA is always busy. I have trouble keeping up with them. One this for sure is that it isn’t possible to get bored with NASA activities. If you don’t like one mission, look at the others. There are many.
A six year mission at the arctic that NASA is doing is called Ice Bridge. A plane flies over the Arctic and observes what is going on. This mission monitors the Arctic.

This shows the Arctic Ocean and I put a red thingy on Greenland for one of the later pictures.
These two pictures show parts of the Arctic landscape.
In Alaska, Pavlof Volcano was spewing clouds of gas. This was taken from the International Space Station.
On board the International Space Station, a robot is being tested.
Last week, the instruments on the International Space Station (ISS) detected an ammonia leak in part of the cooling system.
The part of the cooling system was located. The cooling system is outside of the station and is under the solar panels.
Last weekend, two astronauts went outside to find the exact cause of the leak and fix it.
This is easier said than done.

Here are the pictures of the two astronauts In their space suits.

The decision was made to replace one of the units with the spare.
This picture shows the whole cooling module with the unit that would be replaced. This unit is called PFC5.
This is a picture of one of the bolts.
It used to be that you would only see pictures of the sun like this.
The view of Earth from space is very different at night. The Earth becomes a magical place.
All of pictures are from NASA.
During the daylight hours, NASA took pictures of the Earth called Blue Marble. They were taken from the satellite Terra. It is 770km above the earth.
These two pictures are Earth East and Earth West.
The private company Space X owns Dragon, the cargo spacecraft that delivers good to the International Space Station (ISS). Part of the spacecraft can be used again for future trips.
I imagine that the ISS crew looks forward to these deliveries. There’s always a treat for them along with the regular supplies.
Dragon is launched and guided by NASA.
The Dragon launches from Cape Canaveral in the state of Florida.

Last evening at 11:10, EDT, the Soyuz TMA-07M landed safely in Kazakhstan.
The three astronauts of Expedition 34 had been at the International Space Station. I’ll call it ISS.
They had been delayed in leaving the ISS because of very bad weather in Kazakhstan.
The weather last evening had low clouds and fog. Not ideal, but it was acceptable.
It wasn’t announced that the Landing has taken place until the ground team saw the Soyuz TMA-07M. The Soyuz had a beacon and GPS on it, but seeing for oneself is believing.
